Okay, I’m curious like a lot of writers on the planet. It was only a little thing, but I’m ashamed to admit that there was a teeny bit of the hypnotic/starstruck/ignoramus thingy involved. I clicked on an email to do with, what’s his name (?) — Elon Musk! Who the devil is he?
I grant you that it was naive, ignorant even, of me to click on the name in my inbox. Wasn’t he the one linked to clean air projects? I’ve since Googled him and see that he has many arrows to his bow. He was an early investor in electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Motors, Inc. (now Tesla, Inc.) headquartered in Austin, Texas.
But basically I see now that he is a businessman. And he is reported to be the wealthiest man in the world.
I’m in Australia, and I didn’t know too much about him at the time, mainly that he had just bought Twitter. And he is now trying to get out of the deal. I have an account there, so this sale impacted me personally!
The email I clicked on was a sort of invitation to work for a cause of his, I think.
Since then, it was a couple of months ago, I’ve received over 70 unwanted phone calls from all over the globe and from every part of the Australian continent. I block them all, but still they keep coming.
The implication is that I showed — not sure how — an interest in purchasing some sort of virtual money. I’m being accused, I think, of being the equivalent of a “prick teaser” by those men who don’t get their way with women. I don’t even understand bit coin. That might be my next research topic.
I’m not even that good at earning real money, so it was a no-brainer for me to opt out. That didn’t stop them from coming after me!
I have in the past been fascinated by virtual currency and what it means for the future, but only from a curiosity point of view.
The other thing that I have learnt about this great businessman, is that he was accused of spreading fake news, disinformation, about the Covid19 pandemic. If this is true, it is unforgivable in my books.
I now know a lot more than I did before about EM, Bitcoin and Fake news. And that is still not enough: Some people still see him as a hero, but at least I can make up my own mind about him.
And I’m not quite as naive as I was before. Thank goodness to Google and Wikipedia.
